Dealing with Uncertainty
By Jasmine Burgos
Over the past two years, life has become all kinds of unpredictable and uncertain. Constantly being unable to predict the future can bring about feelings of anxiety and panic. Everything can feel so out of control at times. But, remember, there are things you can do to ease these feelings.
Recognize your feelings of uncertainty
Allowing yourself to feel these emotions instead of suppressing them is the first step to dealing with them.
Comfort yourself in a healthy way
To ease the stress, you can turn to your healthy coping strategies. Small comfort items or rituals can help us feel more safe and secure.
Establish a routine
Following a simple routine each day can help us feel more in control and give us a sense of structure in difficult times.
Start a gratitude journal
In uncertain times, we tend to focus on the negative. Instead of focusing on the things that are out of your control, you can concentrate on some good experiences and enjoy the positive emotions that come out of remembering them.
Connect with others
Remember that you are not alone in this uncertainty and it's okay to lean on other people. May they be your peers, your family, or God.
